Upcoming Release
The next major release, Version 7.0, will be available during Q2 2009 (June), with a candidate release for selected beta testing in May.
Some of the exciting new features in Version 7.0 are:
1. A new Windows .NET based Administrative client. This new
client will allow customers easy to use tools to set up, design
and implement View500. It will communicate with the View500 server
using secure links, using strong Authentication and be capable
of managing many distributed Directory servers from the one Administrative
client.
2. Completely updated Documentation with easy to use Help screens
3. A new API Toolkit. This will allow customers to implement
their own applications using a set of pre defined API
Links.
4. A set of pre-configured user application templates for use within the integrated webDUA. These templates include Organisation Charting, Reporting lines (the ability to navigate up and down an Organisational Tree), On the Fly reporting (the ability of users to specify on-line a particular report that is required), Certificate Management (the ability of users to use View500 to do PKI and Role based attribute certificate management), and, Security Policy management (the ability to search, create, edit, manage and delete, access control and security policies.)
5. A whole range of newly defined attributes types and the ability
through access control to secure access to these attribute types.
Such new Attributes include Role, Rank, Security Policy, X.841 Security
Classification, Zulu time start and finish etc.
6. The ability to support both Role Based and Time based access
control in the Directory Server itself.
7. Full support for TCP IP v6 (Internet Protocol Version 6.) (The previous version of the Internet Protocol is IPv4). IPv6 is a new version of IP which is designed to be an evolutionary step from IPv4. IPv6 is designed to run efficiently on high performance networks (e.g. Gigabit Ethernet, OC-12, ATM etc) and at the same time remain efficient for low bandwidth networks (eg. wireless)
8. Full support for Multi-word synonyms for approximate matching, redefined LDAP syntaxes plus component approximate matching. Noise word and synonym lists are stored as operational attributes with support for new Noise lists as required by Defence.
9. Full support for RXER encoding instructions in the RXER encoder/decoder
and simpler pointer dereferencing in the ASN.1 runtime environment.
10. Full support for approximate matching capabilities for Chinese
languages and an implementation Template for both White & Yellow
Pages in Chinese.
11. Full support (using DAP strong authentication and component
matching) as required by Clearswift EAL4 Deep Secure High Assurance Guard and
Clearswift EAL4 Directory Bastion.
12. The ability to hide URLs in the web DUA page line in order
to not reveal organisational structures.
13. A set of integration capabilities built to support customers
using the XML enabled support of XLDAP. Examples are the integration
of View500 with both NEC and Alcatel’s XML Based PBX systems,
integration with Lotus Same time to allow automatic awareness of
User Presence and the ability to open up Presence windows within
View500.
