Government White Pages eBusiness Yellow Pages There is increasing pressure on governments and their agencies to provide online services, usually referred to as eGovernment services, which allow citizens to interact more easily and efficiently with the Government. By deploying Identity Management solutions, governments will: • Provide for the introduction of secure eGovernment services by specific target dates • Provide authentication services for all citizens • Aggressively push eGovernment services for rapid adoption • Ensure that citizens can interact securely online with the Government departments The Directory provides a guide to key people, organisations, functions undertaken and services delivered in the Government. Both Federal and State Government deploy such solutions and they provide the fundamental basis for eGovernment service access. As an example of View500 in action, see the ACT Government Directory online . It can be found at: http://www.directory.act.gov.au/ccExternal_5.1/ eB2Bcom also currently provides the full 24x7x365 Australian Government
Identity Management infrastructure solution. This encompasses an On-Line
Web based access service to the public at (www.gold.gov.au) and an internal
Identity Management infrastructure to all Federal Government employees.
The eB2Bcom dualised solution also handles easy changes to government infrastructure
(known as CHOPLOC) with the ability to move groups of staff, organisations
or units easily between divisions and departments. Web based Identity Infrastructure
update facilities are provided to some 90 Departments and organisations
allowing them to control and update and provision new users, departments
and organisations. It also provides for full phonetic approximate matching
which is considerably superior to soundex, and it can do various other types
of approximate matching as well such as synonym matching, recognise spelling
mistakes, recognise abbreviations eg IBM would match International Business
Machines, and do prefix matching eg Fred would match Frederick. The Australian
Government also wanted a solution that was fully X.500 and LDAPv3 compliant
in order to ensure compatibility with other International Government organizations
as well as compliant to the new XML enabled Directory standard (www.xmled.info).
It runs on Windows 2000/2003, Solaris or Linux. View500 has been stress
tested up to 30 Million entries. One of the key reasons for selecting View500
over generalized industry Directory software such as that from IBM or Sun
was View500 scalability up to 30 million entries on a single platform and
its suitability for applications where high look up usage, sub second response
time and dynamic performance is required. Such applications include service
database/directories, community services, XML applications for electronic
business marketplaces, telephone applications, supporting enterprise wide
authentication services and any customer facing application such as Provisioning
or in the airline areas Frequent Flyer programs. | ||
